General information
Ensuring long-term availability of products and systems is a fundamental strategy at B&R. This is also true
for ACOPOS 8V product. This system has been officially available as series-produced products since 1999.
Series production of ACOPOS 8V system has thus been available for over 20 years.
As time passes, it is becoming increasingly difficult to compensate for components that are continually being
discontinued by component manufacturers. Effort at R&D is also significantly increasing, and we want to
focus our resources for new product development.
ACOPOS reached the end of it's life time and therefore we have to start the phase-out of this product series.
Life Cycle roadmap and discontinuation
The ACOPOS drives are the first products we discontinue with the new life cycle model. Because the
urgency to start the Last Time Buy (LTB) phase the Classic phase will be very short.

Because of the availability of our tools (IQ, SAP) to process the phase-out, we had to adapt the roadmap of
the discontinuation. Under the bottom line there will be no disadvantage for the customer compared to the
original planned dates for the LTB. Instead of starting immediately with the LTB, we start with 'Classic'. LTB
start will be postponed to Feb 1, 2023. On the other hand we prolong the end of LTB by one month till end of
June 2023.
Communication to customers
PRICS
With the new life cycle process we will use PRICS as tool for data preparation and communication to our
customers. There will be a WeTalk on Nov 30 to introduce all necessary functions and possibilities of PRICS.
The tool gives each country the possibility to localize the general information about the discontinuation,
especially to translate it into the local language. By default PRICS executes an automated mailing to the
customers, this could be switched of individually for each customer. To do the right settings for each
customer, we will start PRICS for with the general information about our new Product Life Cycle with
beginning of December. With mid of December PRICS will start the mailing in accordance with the individual
settings to inform our customers about the general new approach. With end of January 2023 we will do the
PRICS campaign explicit for the discontinuation of the ACOPOS system with all detailed information,
customized for each customer.

Independent from the mailing campaign with PRICS we can start to inform our customers now. We have to
introduce the general approach and we have to announce the discontinuation of the ACOPOS. There is a
separate SN with more detailed information about the general new Life Cycle Process.
The current product status is also available at our website for all customer who are logged-in:
Discontinuation process
The ACOPOS drives are the first products we will discontinue following the new Life Cycle Process. Because
of an urgency to discontinue the ACOPOS we had to reduce the classic phase to 7 1/2 months. LTB will be 6
months.
As defined in the B&R discontinuation process, we will increase the price with every year of last shipment as
defined in the table below. With the beginning of the LTB phase IQ will be prepared to generate the offers for
the phase 'Limited'. Same for the order processing in SAP, we will have new contracts for last shipment
implemented at that time.

Last shipment pricing
Customers must order the LTB quantities in contracts for every year of the last shipment. The graduated
pricing must be mapped to the SAP-contracts. During the last shipment phase it will be possible to shift
quantities from one SAP-contract to another one (means from one year of last shipment to another one).
Cancellation of quantities is also possible, but not free of charge. There will be a fixed cancellation fee which
will be based on the pricing of the year of cancellation (70% of the agreed customer price for standard
products).
Product follow up & compatibility
We will not offer 100% software & hardware compatible product as the variability of customer architectures
and use cases are different and will always lead to a special case management.
For OEM, ACOPOS P3 or ACOPOSmulti are good product for substitution with additional benefits
(compactness, features, pricing etc.) and very good hardware and software compatibility thanks to
Automation Studio project migration functionalities (project conversion, exporting tasks etc.)
For End-Users we are highly recommending to set-up LTB contract for spare parts. Without LTB contract, we
are not in position to guaranty delivery of ACOPOS 8V over the next years.
Our customers must be informed of ACOPOS 8V discontinuation and about the further systems replacement
products ACOPOS P3 and ACOPOSmulti.
Sets
All Sets 8ACC:... or 8ACP:... with one of the above listed ACOPOS as part of the Set will be discontinued
too. The discontinuation process of the Set follows automatically the discontinuation process of the ACOPOS
itself.
